Often their messages feel urgent, as in their Black Lives Matter shirts and other designs that help people confront racism and other forms of injustice. Yana says, “Sometimes we are afraid to have a conversation, but a t-shirt can spark a thought process.”

Generally their designs are intended to spread kindness and peace, as Yana and Elisee want to help people express positive attitudes and rethink daily interactions. Their “Don’t Hate—Meditate” t-shirt could be interpreted as, “Take a moment before you react. Relax, then let the goodness in you come through.”

One of their designs–“Respect your Mother”—is very popular, maybe because of the simple truth.  The idea is to help people feel connected and realize our common goals.

A Malden resident for 20 years, Elisee was born on the island of Guadeloupe, of HaitIan parents. He moved to the states when he was 9 years old.  Yana, born and raised in Germany, moved here in 2007 and feels strongly connected to Malden’s diverse community. In addition to sharing their business, they have two children, Eli and Julian.
